DiverseCity: The Greater Toronto Leadership Project

Created in 2008 by the Toronto City Summit Alliance and Maytree, DiverseCity responds to the 2007 Toronto Summit’s call for business, non-profit and government leadership that better reflects the diversity of the Toronto region’s population.

Guided by a 40-leader Steering Committee, DiverseCity has launched nine practical and measurable programs aimed at:

  • increasing public awareness about the economic and social benefits of diverse leadership
  • facilitating diverse appointments to agencies, boards and commissions
  • networking established leaders across business and other communities
  • improving electoral engagement
  • creating a speakers bureau of diverse experts for media use
  • measuring the diversity of our leadership
  • sharing diverse leaders’ stories of success
  • equipping and connecting the next cohort of civic leaders
