Mirette Shoeir (she/her) is the Director, Corporate Operations. Mirette has spent the past 10 years working in the Canadian not for profit sector. Her last role was Director of Operations at Innocence Canada, a not for profit that worked to exonerate individuals wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not commit. Prior to that she worked as Membership and Communications Manager at the Professional Association of Canadian Theatre, a national arts service organization with theatre members of all sizes from coast to coast to coast. After 4 years with PACT, she was promoted to the role of General Manager. She holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from the American University in Cairo and an MA in Theatre and Performance Studies from York University. The idea being to combine her business training to work in the live performing arts sector. More recently she has been interested in community development and social justice and is currently wrapping up a second MA degree in Economic Development and Innovation at the University of Waterloo. Mirette is Egyptian-Canadian and speaks Arabic as well as English. She is very happy and humbled to be part of the Civic Action team.
