Changemakers needed – Impact Report 2023

On October 13, 2023, over 330 leaders from public, private, and non-profit sectors gathered at the CivicAction Summit: Changemakers Needed. The Summit showcased ongoing work to address urgent crises, emphasizing that solutions exist.

Impact Report 2022-23

In the face of unprecedented global challenges, 2022/23 emerged as a pivotal year for CivicAction as we continued our commitment to tackle pressing issues confronting the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area (GTHA). Looking ahead to our twentieth year, CivicAction calls for united efforts to shape an inclusive urban agenda for the region’s future success, urging all changemakers to join us on this transformative journey.

Diversity and Inclusion in Non-profit Leadership in Ontario: Are We There Yet?

CivicAction and the Diversity Institute have collaborated to create a first-of-its-kind report, Diversity and Inclusion in non-profit Leadership in Ontario: Are We There Yet? With funding support from the Ontario government, the report sheds light on the experiences of diverse leaders across 803 non-profit organizations in Ontario. It examines the state of equity, diversity, and inclusion in non-profit sector boards and executive teams and the experiences of diverse leaders in Ontario’s non-profit sector.

Assessment of the Toront03 Alliance’s Tourism Recovery Efforts

The T03 Alliance was formed in June 2003 to help revitalize the tourism industry in Toronto and surrounding regions (e.g. Niagara, Stratford, and Muskoka) post-SARS. This report provides a review of the impact of the Toront03 Alliance’s (T03) activities on bringing US tourists back to Toronto post-SARS.

Break Barriers – Impact Report 2022

The Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area is increasingly experiencing multiple crises and complex challenges that require cross-sectoral collaboration fuelled by diverse voices and perspectives. In 2022, we strengthened our commitment to breaking barriers for underrepresented and equity-seeking leaders and empowering them to access seats at leadership tables through new and existing programs.

Change the Status Quo

CivicAction continued the important work of building better, more inclusive cities for everyone in the GTHA. By developing new, innovative programs and growing existing ones, we focused on empowering diverse leaders, advocating for an inclusive economic recovery, and collaborating with leaders to address pressing issues to advance our region.

Economic Inclusion Roundtable

On January 26, 2021, the Government of Ontario’s Anti-Racism Directorate and CivicAction hosted a virtual roundtable on economic inclusion in the workplace.

The Pervasive Reality of Anti-Black Racism in Canada

CivicAction and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) compiled existing data from the municipal, provincial, and national level to sow how anti-Black racism appears in four important lifecycle areas: education, employment, healthcare, and policing. This report shows the realities of the Black experience in Canada, which when put together are eye-opening.
