In February of 2014, co-chairs of the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance (GTMA), Mayor Dave Ryan, City of Pickering, and John Tory, past Chair, CivicAction, gathered to call for business and all levels of government to embark on a properly funded regional team effort to pursue and attract potential investment and jobs to the Greater Toronto Area.
